The Episcopal Consecration of the Reverend Nicholas John Geoffrey Sykes, Rector of the Church of England in the Cayman Islands took place on the 26th January 2012, at the Pro-Cathedral Church of Saint Saviour, 9280 Number 2 Road, Richmond, British Columbia, with the Right Reverend Robert D. Redmile, Bishop of Richmond, as Principal Consecrator, and the Most Reverend Theodore C. Casimes, Presiding Bishop of the Christian Episcopal Churches of North America and the Right Reverend Timothy J. Klerekoper, Bishop of Seattle, as the assisting Consecrators.

The Church of England in the Cayman Islands is in law under the ecclesiastical jurisdiction of the Lord Bishop of London by appointment of the Crown in 1634. However, because this jurisdiction is not being actively exercised the Cayman Islands have looked to the Bishops of the Christian Episcopal Churches for pastoral oversight, and in due course it was decided that the Reverend Nicholas Sykes be ordained and consecrated Bishop, and appointed Bishop in George Town, so that the Cayman Islands might have a Bishop of their own to look after their spiritual needs.

The Bishop of London was kept fully apprised of the plans for the consecration.
